Let's try something different for a change.

Hi everyone,

well I've been here two weeks already and let me tell you that making my mind about staying or not staying is not like a walk in the park.

Oh yeah I almost forgot, if you want to follow what's happening here, I decided to change for a while and write the adventures in english. Very appropriate isn't it? No I'm kidding I did not forget but again I thought it'd be a good idea to use the different skills of our devoted readers to share our stories. Of course some of you will most probably use your best "franglish" but you will definitely appreciate it, eventhough you might have to skim through your favorite dictionnary or perhaps ask a colleague to help you out.

The project here in Kitimat brings a tremendous challenge to whomever needs this type of fuel to run his or her engine, the team being built is also becoming a team of nifty training addicts and capable individuals awaiting you to improve it even more.

Besides the project itself, there's life in Kitimat that surely one must take into account to make a wise decision. I noticed right away that there is no St-Hubert, Mike's, Coq Rôti, Pacini or any other favorites... there's a Dairy Queen and a Subway but around here Place du Royaume would be the attraction of the whole Northern Pacific region. Of course you can always go to the West Edmonton Mall... if driving 16 hours doesn't bother you.

No if you decide to come here for a while, don't expect life in the city. You will go back to your roots and get closer to your family. Nature may take upon you and fishing on the Kitimat river could very well be your walk on the rue Racine. The Monts Valins look like babies between the peaks of thousand meter high rock solid mountains and like the french, from France of course, would say "zThe Rockies Mountainz zare very bigz."

Don't think I'm trying to discourage you, on the contrary, I'm simply giving you the facts, the truth about here. Life is different and not like St-Fulgence, where a small drive will bring you downtown Chicoutimi, here it's a 630 kilometer journey to Prince George (77,000 inhabitants) and a 2-1/2 hour trip to Prince Rupert, one of the many transit port for the Love Boat, remember Captain Stubing? Oh, I almost forgot, Terrace 55 km away babysits a Walmart, a Canadian Tire, a Rona, a Mcdonald, many restaurants... and downhill skying where the word "downhill" takes a very very strong meaning.

Kitimat sits in an inlet on the shore of the Pacific ocean where you'll find Halibut, Crab, Shrimps, Salmon, Trout and other nice sea creatures and small land animals like Grizzlys and Black Bears. If you want to travel to the Queen Charlotte's Islands, you'll probably see Killer Whales by the dozens after a 293 kilometer (9 hours) cruise by ferry from Prince Rupert... I know I lived there for 2 years in my not so far away young age. Tow Hill passed Masset will take your breath away and almost took my life away when I approached the Blow Holes a bit too close, this will be in a later story... maybe.

Ok enough said about this place, if you're interested in finding out more about here and the challenge that awaits you, go to Google earth... I'm kidding, give me a call, send me an email and write a commentary. By the way, Internet works pretty well and we have satellite tv like everywhere else and I must admit that opening the stores in morning and seeing a 3,800 meter pile of rocks is an impressive view.
See you later.
Sabin.

Make the most of it and enjoy yourself!!
